Amber Waves of Grain

Designed and Presented by:  Mary Tod

Description: To celebrate the EGA Constellation Chapter’s 50th Anniversary in 2023, Mary designed a canvaswork piece inspired by the song “America the Beautiful.” This design features 4 needlepoint stitches worked in Waterlilies, Au Ver a Soie, and metallic braid, and is appropriate for those looking to go beyond tent stitch in their canvas stitching adventures. The central panel gives the appearance of waving wheat or grass, and is stitched with a variation of half-drop Rhodes stitches using the Waterlilies. Three borders and a corner motif add interest in framing the design, and are composed of fern stitch, Rhodes stitch, Van Dyke stitch, and a double upright cross stitch worked with silk flosses and metallic braid
