Playing with Trianglepoint

Playing with Trianglepoint – Sampler pillow

Designed and Presented by:  Marcy Brown

Description: In 1976, Sherlee Lantz published Trianglepoint, an exploration of pattern and color through manipulation of a single shape: the equilateral triangle. She wrote, “standing by itself, the equilateral triangle looks a proper, stolid, upright figure. Surround it with neighbors of identical size and shape, start coloring, and watch the flummery start.” In this program we’ll use Sherlee’s book as a guide to stitch small triangle combinations to create interesting patterns. The book includes a Mosaic Sampler Pillow of 12 different patterns which is a great way to try many combinations, or you can stitch Pat Mazu’s trianglepoint mini-stocking that was in the November/December 2025 Needle Pointers. Or just grab some threads and a doodle canvas and try your own combinations from the patterns that will be provided in the daily lessons during the Meeting Program!
